Where Da Wild Beach At?

Some of us locals who've lived here for a long while, remember when the continuous mountain range of condos were not here. Some think Joni Mitchell's 1970 song Big Yellow Taxi (Paved Paradise & Put Up a Parking Lot) describes our plunge into the real world.

HOWEVER... Out of the 32 miles of Alabama beach we do have about 10 miles of the Alabama beach that's protected by State Parks, a National Wildlife Refuge and City Parks. (Fort Morgan State Park, The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, The Gulf State Park and multiple Gulf Shores/Orange Beach parks and beach access areas.
In addition there's the Gulf Islands National Seashore (Johnson's Beach) just across the State line in Florida.

Given the high demand for beach front property, Gulf Shores Locals feel fortunate to still have some WILD BEACH left.
